It’s Derby Time
Let the Kentucky Derby drama begin! With overwhelming favorite Eskendereya ruled out due to injury, it’s anybody’s race to win!!! Alright, calm down folks.
Horse racing is not a sport. It’s only being mentioned here because some people think it is, and because sports media outlets decide to cover it. If you’re one of those people who follows the Derby as another event you can throw money away on, that’s fine. Please, though, don’t take this thing seriously. Come on, now. Hours and hours of coverage for a two-minute race? Who watches NBC beginning at 4 until the race actually starts at 7-something?
A little advice from YGS: If you’re dumb enough to gamble on this event, just take the biggest underdog. It’s, as we like to say, a total crapshoot. As of this post, that would be Discreetly Mine, at 37 to 1. If you’re looking for any type of analysis or insight, don’t look here!
So, really all that’s left to say to our Thoroughbred hopefuls is, “Break a leg!” Oops, sorry Barbaro.
I’ll bet Steve Cauthen wouldn’t have Affirmed your position here.
sooo true
Baseball is the greatest sport on earth. It takes years to gain an understanding of how it is played.Once you develope that understanding, the pleasure you get from watching it are FANtastic.
